This is the time to celebrate the amazing achievement of more people living longer healthier lives. NCW Tauranga has connected with the UN Decade because our Elders are precious taonga. The Decade is a time for remembering to strengthen our relationships with Elders so that we may embrace their knowledge, matauranga, and passion for the past and the future. It is vitally a time to understand age diversity and Elder contributions. Further, that generational healthy ageing and increased longevity mean that we must change attitudes, beliefs, policies, plans and communities to enable Elders to belong and be socially connected, with purposeful, meaninfu healthy lives. This is the time to act on cross-sector social and economic well-being challenges such as access to work, lifelong learning, health and social care, including policies that structure a redesign of housing, mobility, and later-lifecare in sustainable urban community ecosystems. We seek to inspire community initiatives. It is very rewarding that a number of projects are underway with more in the pipeline. See events page for themes and projects. Well done everyone.
